In the Philippines even though lots of people in social media say that cosmetic surgery should not be a big deal, the toxic culture here still judge people on what they do, there are things that people want to do but because of other’s opinion they’re scared to do it. But does their opinion really matter?

Cosmetic surgery is a procedure that an individual undergoes to in improving their self-esteem. Someone who is insecure about their face or body has a high chance of going through this surgery. Plastic surgery is your own choice, and in Gwen’s perspective, plastic surgery is okay because at the end of the day it's your body, your money, your life, and your decision. So, if you are so insecure about a part of your body, then what's the problem of undergoing a cosmetic surgery? On the other hand, we also have to be very careful because cosmetic surgery can be addictive and it can make someone look unrealistic.

Growing up as a christian, I was told not to change anything around my body because it was God’s gift and that we should not take advantage of it. This is the reason why I don’t have any piercings. I think that this is the reason why Christians disapprove cosmetic surgeries. Since we are now in a modernized world, people have their own opinions and most are very well respected.

People undergo cosmetic surgery because: 

• They want to boost their confidence
•  They had a very bad injury that needs to be fixed
• They were born with physical abnormalities 
• They want to enhance a certain feature of their body

Listening to people's criticism can both help and harm our minds. If you know that you will benefit from this, you should also know what the consequences are. Undergoing surgery could be life threatening if not done professionally. As a final note, taking care of our physical appearance is important so know what is best for you.
