On September 26th of 2019, we went in a school field trip! Now I’m going to tell you all about my experience.
Before the trip started, I went in the school pretty early—I expected everyone in the class to be there already but only two of them were there. I thought I was late but that didn’t seem to be the case. Originally, we thought we’d be sharing the bus with Grade 11 but then we ended up with the Grade 12 students. We waited for a bit ‘til they finally told us to fall in line so we can finally go in the bus.
When I got in, I was seated with Pia but we planned to switch with other people after a few hours and such. Our tour guide, Kuya Carlo, entertained us for a bit as we went on our way to SLEX to a stop so we can buy food to eat when we reach UPLB.
After that, we spent long, long hours in the bus as we made our way to our first stop: Paete, Laguna.
Despite the tedious trip on the way there, I can say that it was pretty worth it. We went in the Paete church and we learned about its history. We learned that Paete was also the carving capital of the Philippines. After that, we went out and watched two people carving fruit. One carved a horse on a watermelon, and the other one made a really cute elephant from pieces of both fruit and vegetable.
After that, they let us try carving too! I was one of the participants and made a flower—or like, a really sad excuse of a flower. There was… an attempt.
Then, after that they made ice carvings! It was really cool, they made an angelfish and an eagle sculpture. I was at awe. Then they let us roam around to buy stuff then we went back to the bus. I wasn't able to take a picture of the angelfish carving though, but I can assure you that it was very pretty.
We then came back to the bus and trip was long.
So to entertain ourselves, we played charades while the bus was moving. Then we played some songs as well and sang along. It was really fun. I watched some vids in YouTube as well but when we reached UPLB, it turns out we were too late due to traffic so we didn’t get to get out the bus so we just went straight to Lakbay Museo instead.
And I have to say, it was great there! We learned a lot of things about the different parts of the country from Luzon to Mindanao.
We get to see their trademarks, their food, their culture, different dances, different types of cloth used in our country and many more. It was a very cool trip! The people working there are wearing different traditional clothes and they all look so, so good! It was really fun and I wish it lasted longer.
Sadly, we only got to two stops in the end, but nevertheless it was still fun since I was with my friends. When we got back to the bus to the way back to school, me and my friends talked and laughed all the way back.

We out here... being chaotic |
Despite the fieldtrip not going as expected, I'll cherish that day: the final field trip I'll get to experience in RIS.
